Description
Job Description:
In this role, the engineer is responsible for SW development & maintenance
of Layer 1 Control Software for 2G/3G wireless modem. Should be able to focus
on the quality of the software thereby reducing the overhead in the
regressions. Should be able to develop an efficient embedded SW meeting real
time constraints as well as protocol defined across the interfacing components.
Should be pro-active in debugging on Simulation environment as well as in
target testing.
Should be able to quickly understand the existing SW design & code, in
order to support maintenance or any new feature development. Should be able to
guide and train the junior members of the team. Should be self-motivated and
drive the work to completion.
Qualifications
Required skills:
1.Graduate or Post graduate B.E/M.E in CS or EC discipline.
2.Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in 2G Layer1 or 3G Layer1 control SW
development.
3.Good understanding on 3GPP specifications for 2G L1 and 3G L1.
4.Excellent embedded programming skills using C & RTOS.
5.Very good analytical & logical reasoning skills.
6.Very good knowledge on Access stratum procedures in UE.
7.Very good real time debugging skills, tools & script usage, Script
development skills.
8.Hands on experience in Dual RAT or Triple RAT Layer1 SW development in a real
time OS environment.
Desired skills:
1.Signal processing blocks in TX & RX chains of 2G or 3G physical layer
processing.
2.Modem system level understanding.
3.Exposure to SW design & development for dual SIM solutions.

- Design and maintain the
RLC/PDCP/MAC/Hardware adaption layer for GPRS/UMTS/LTE
- Define external and internal interfaces including functional on Data plan
optimization and memory handling.

Qualifications

Description:
- Development, Verification and Support of baseband Modem Firmware /Embedded SW
for the Radio Driver System across multiple mobile communication standards
(GSM, EDGE, WCDMA, UMTS, LTE).
- Discuss requirements/feedback with Concept Engineering and Development.
- Participation in system integration and verification in cooperation with
System Engineering and hardware design group.
- System integration on virtual prototypes and target hardware.
- Analyzing and solving of technical issues during bring-up of the next
generation mobile phone platform.
- Perform code review and SW/FW fixes and feature updates.
- Debug FW/SW and System issues, extract and analyze traces, pre-analysis of
issues from various verification sessions (IOT, GCT, Field Test, Customer Production
Line)
- Technical support of internal and external customers of the Intel
high-feature modem baseband components.
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:
Candidate must possess a Bachelor's Degree or greater in Electronics,
Communication Technology or Computer Science.
- 5-7 experience GSM, EDGE, WCDMA, UMTS, LTE wireless communication products
and their related systems
- 3-5 years experience/knowledge in development of wireless products and
preferably in RF Driver or at a minimum L1 Controller
- 3-5 years experience in RFIC and Baseband Communication EG - Digital RF
driver is MANDATORY. Knowledge of Intel SUE2/S4G based RFIC based systems is an
added advantage.
-3-5 years experience in development of RF Production Test Driver leading to ramp
up of RFIC/s in Tier-1/2 OEMs
- 3-5 years hands on experience with wireless communication test sets, logic
analyzer and DigRF analyzer tools.
- 5-7 years C language, Real Time system, ClearCase
- Knowledge and understanding of relevant communication standards, protocols,
mobile architecture especially the physical layer.
- Familiarity and working knowledge of knowledge of wireless technologies GSM
& TDMA,CDMA,LTE systems

• Participation in
definition of overall system architecture as well as non-functional
requirements (scalability, modularity, extensibility, reusability) across
various platforms.
• Provide governance and help various teams to make appropriate system and
component level design decisions with focus on holistic technology approach
across products and teams.
• Develop an end-to-end view of entire system with focus on physical layer and
characterization of its performance (execution profiling).
• Provide system support for implementation related activities, with a focus on
efficient and robust control architectures.
• Analyze and identify issues in the physical layer observed in the lab and in
the field. Understand and correlate various system level issues in a complex
system.
• Active participation in modem performance improvements and optimizations to
enable new features and applications.
Qualifications
• Considerable experience in
developing physical layer SW/FW for wireless communications in an embedded,
real-time environment. Solid knowledge across PHY/MAC SW layers and their
interworking. Experience in the design of efficient and robust control architectures.
• Strong understanding of wireless communication theory and digital signal
processing including air interface functionality.
• Profound knowledge in one or more of the following topics is required: AFC,
RF control, audio processing, interference cancellation, carrier aggregation,
heterogeneous radio networks
• System level knowledge in at least one of RATs: GSM/EGPRS, WCDMA/HSPA+, LTE.
• Good understanding of 3GPP specifications and capability to think beyond it.
• Good understanding of wireless multimode modem architecture (system level
partitioning, RF, BB, SW/HW integration aspects).
• Strong attention to details, dedication to quality, a strong ability to
innovate and present ideas and concepts clearly.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
